“My second summer of college, I was matched with Meghan as a mentor at a summer research internship. It was my first time conducting independent research, so I had a lot to learn. Meghan guided me towards asking meaningful scientific questions and learning new methods and tools, including working with very large datasets. Each time I became overwhelmed by a new challenge, Meghan’s support was grounding and helpful in rethinking how to approach each problem. Now, that summer project is a manuscript that I am working on publishing with Meghan’s guidance both in writing and editing. It has been amazing working with Meghan all of these years, and the initial summer research internship is ultimately what made me decide to pursue a career in academia.”
